After the final rankings dropped this last week, the Wildcats found themselves ranked #2 behind the Montana State Bobcats in the western division. Which at this point of the season is crucial to be in! The top two teams in each conference get an automatic bid to the national tournament. The last ten years or so, the Wildcats typically got close to the #1 and #2 ranks, but have always come just shy of making it. This year, the Wildcats avoided playing in the regional tournament and got a direct ticket straight to nationals with their stellar season accomplishments.
The team will fly out March 10th, and begin playing the 11th through the 15th (depending on how the first few games go, they may play more, and even on to the national championship game) in St. Louis, Missouri at Centene Community Ice Center: Maryland Heights, Missouri.
This is where we need Wildcat nation to come in and help. As most of you know already, this team is considered a "club" team, and is not directly funded by the school. Instead, it's funded directly by the players and other very generous volunteers from time to time. We have started a donations site through the school that will help get our players to the tournament, fed, and lodged as well. The team's goal is to reach $20,000 before the trip.
